Terms & conditions

1. Purpose

These terms and conditions (T&C) govern the booking of private spaces, the purchase of gift cards and additional services offered by The River (Abaton SA), via the website theriver.be or on site. Any booking implies full acceptance of these T&C.

2. Bookings

Bookings are made online (available space, date, duration and time slot) or at reception. A booking is only confirmed once payment (in full or a deposit, depending on the option chosen) has been received.

3. Prices

Prices are shown in euros (€), all taxes included. They vary according to the space, duration, number of people and time (before or after 6 pm). The applicable rate is the one displayed at the time of booking.

4. Payment

Online payment is secure and processed by Stripe. You can pay in full online or a 30% deposit, the balance and any extras then being settled on site (card or cash).

5. Extras & in-room orders

Extras (decorations, treatments, drinks, food…) may be added to the booking or ordered during the session. They are charged in addition and, in the case of a deposit, paid on site. Some extras extend the duration the space is occupied.

6. Cancellation & refund

You may cancel your booking. The deposit is non-refundable. A refund may however be considered if the cancellation is notified at least 48 hours before the booked slot. Any request should be sent to info@theriver.be or by phone at +32 (0)495 579 191.

7. Right of withdrawal

In accordance with Article VI.53 of the Belgian Code of Economic Law, the right of withdrawal does not apply to leisure services provided on a specific date. Booking a slot is therefore firm, subject to the cancellation policy above.

8. Gift cards

Gift cards are valid for 1 year from issue, are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. They may be used in one or several times until the balance is exhausted.

9. House rules & liability

Clients undertake to comply with hygiene and safety instructions and the house rules. The River declines any responsibility in the event of non-compliance with these instructions or theft/loss of personal belongings.

10. Personal data

The data collected is processed in accordance with our privacy policy.

11. Applicable law & disputes

These T&C are governed by Belgian law. Failing an amicable settlement, the competent courts shall be those of Abaton SA's registered office. European online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
